Ethiopia is widely recognized as the birthplace of coffee. According to popular stories, coffee was discovered after a goat herder noticed his goats became energetic after eating berries from a certain plant. Coffee later spread from Ethiopia to the Middle East and then around the world. Today, coffee is one of the most traded beverages globally.

Ethiopian coffee culture includes traditional ceremonies where coffee is prepared and shared with guests. A drink enjoyed by billions of people began from one African country’s ancient tradition.
