Raisins are simply grapes that have been dried in the sun or with controlled warm air. During the drying process, water evaporates while the natural sugars become more concentrated, giving raisins their sweet flavor.
They can be made from green, red, or black grape varieties, each with slightly different tastes. Raisins are commonly used in baking, cereals, trail mixes, and many traditional dishes around the world. Despite their small size, they contain fiber, iron, and antioxidants.
