Earth’s rotation is gradually slowing down because of the gravitational pull between Earth and the Moon. Millions of years ago, a day on Earth was much shorter than the 24 hours we experience today.

The change is extremely small, adding only milliseconds over many years. Scientists can measure this change using precise atomic clocks and astronomical observations. This proves that even our planet’s movement is constantly changing.
