The Office of the Ombudsman is now moving forward with a meticulous evaluation of plunder and graft complaints filed against Senator Loren Legarda and her son, Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste.
Ombudsman Crispin Remulla firmly dispelled rumors of political bias, asserting that state investigators are systematically reviewing the evidence regarding alleged anomalies in solar projects.
Refusing to back down, Senator Legarda swiftly fired back to deny the corruption allegations and protect her decades-long record in public service.
“All my public life since 1998, I have always upheld my integrity, which I hold dearly. This allegation is a taint on my person that is totally undeserved,” Legarda declared in an official statement.
While noting that her camp has yet to receive formal communication from the Ombudsman, she maintained that no public funds were ever involved, asserting, “I can categorically state that the reported accusations are utterly baseless.”
With both sides digging in, the legal battle lines are officially drawn as the Ombudsman commands a thorough probe while the Legardas brace to clear their names.
Urging the public to look closely at the suspicious timing of the charges, the veteran lawmaker made it clear that her family will not shrink from the legal battle.
"We are prepared to bring out the truth," Legarda stated, adding, “We remain confident that once the facts are laid bare, we will be vindicated and our names cleared.”
