Most people only see half of a rainbow because the ground blocks the lower portion from view. From an airplane or a high mountain, it's sometimes possible to see a complete circular rainbow. Rainbows form when sunlight is refracted, reflected, and dispersed inside tiny water droplets.

Every person sees a slightly different rainbow because its position depends on the observer's location. This beautiful optical phenomenon has fascinated people for centuries.
