The Philippine Navy is continuing its investigation into the death of Navy Officer candidate Aldwayne Dulnuan; they temporarily declined to provide further details while the investigation is ongoing.
The family and friends of Dulnuan have called for a transparent and impartial investigation to determine the true cause of his death.
According to the statement released by the Philippine Navy, Officer Cadet Dulnuan experienced severe dizziness and tremors on the morning of July 21, after completing the 5km run at the Naval Station Leovigildo Gantioqui in Zambales. The medical personnel of the Philippine Navy immediately administered first aid before he lost consciousness and was rushed to San Marcelino District Hospital.
Due to his condition, doctors recommended his transfer to the intensive care unit (ICU), where the initial diagnosis was heat stroke. He was later transferred to Ulticare Medical Center in Olongapo for intensive treatment.
On the afternoon of July 22, the cadet passed away.
According to the Philippine Navy, the medical cause of death was a severe infection affecting the central nervous system, which compromised his respiratory system.
The investigation of the Philippine Navy is ongoing, in coordination with the medical authorities to determine all details related to the incident. They also assured that they will continuously support and assist the family of the deceased officer candidate while the necessary processes are still ongoing.
