Recalling basic science, clouds are mostly made of water particles. Scientists have estimated that for an average cumulus cloud (those white fluffy ones that look so soft), the water density is about 1/2 gram of water per cubic meter. So, for a cloud that's approximately a meter across on all sides, the volume is 1 billion cubic meters.

Multiply that by the density, and you get an average cumulus cloud weight of almost 500,000 kilograms, or the equivalent of 1.1 million pounds. That's roughly the same as 100 elephants floating precariously above your head.
