Yep, they were named after none other than Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan! However, in the original Japanese version, their names were quite different, but when Pokémon made its way to the Western world, their names got a Westernized twist.

Oh, and if you’re curious, the third Pokémon in the Hitmon family, Hitmontop, is named after another martial artist named Larry Top.
