QUEZON CITY—The Philippine National Police (PNP) successfully seized 20 firearms from Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa in Davao City on June 11, following the revocation of his gun licenses.
The Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU) 11 took custody of the weapons in compliance with a Notice and Order of Revocation issued by the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO).
According to a statement from the PNP-Civil Security Group (CSG), "A total of 20 firearms were accounted for, properly recorded, and issued with corresponding acknowledgment receipts before being transported to the RCSU 11 office at Camp Sgt. Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City."
Officials confirmed that the weapons are now under official custody for safekeeping, noting that "The process was conducted in an orderly manner, ensuring that all procedures were properly observed and fully documented."
The surrender stems from a May 26 order by FEO chief Brig. Gen. Jojo Manalad, which revoked and cancelled Dela Rosa’s firearm licenses pursuant to Section 4 of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The directive mandates the immediate confiscation or surrender of all 117 firearms registered under the senator's name to the PNP-FEO supply accountable officer for proper disposition.
This law enforcement action follows an active arrest warrant issued against Dela Rosa by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
