Who's excited for Sigabo

Established
Sigabo (or as the fans call it: FPJ's Dakilang Sigabo) is an upcoming 2026 Philippine romance action comedy drama television series starring Coco Martin and Julia Montes. Sigabo is a relatively lighter and more episodic format compared to traditional long-running teleseryes that are not based on a story and this series will replace FPJ's Batang Quiapo. Sigabo was set to premiere on June 22, 2026, replacing Batang Quiapo. However on March 10, Coco Martin announced that Sigabo will not air on March 16 to give Martin and his team a break from a three-year running series, which was instead replaced by The Alibi. Martin announced that Sigabo would officially premiere on June 22.

Background and development
The series was developed as a lighter, more varied show compared to heavy action-drama formats. Coco Martin himself described it as an episodic mix of action, comedy, romance, and drama that families can enjoy nightly. Sigabo was announced as a new primetime teleserye by ABS-CBN to follow the finale of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, which ends on March 13, 2026. Unlike the long serialized storytelling of previous dramas Martin led (such as Batang Quiapo), Sigabo is described as episodic, with different stories and missions each week and guest comedians appearing frequently. This format suggests more variety and lightheartedness per episode. The cast reportedly undergoes training (e.g., with guns, fight sequences, and motorcycles) to prepare for the varied missions and action elements of the series. Sigabo fills the primetime slot left by FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, one of the Philippines’ most-watched series, which ran multi-year arcs and attracted large audiences. The creation of Sigabo appears partly driven by the network’s strategy to continue strong primetime viewership by evolving into lighter, ensemble-style storytelling that still features big stars like Coco and Julia.

Coco Martin (a major television figure in the Philippines) and his real-life partner Julia Montes were announced as the lead stars for Sigabo, marking a high-profile collaboration. Martin explained he waited for the “right project” to team up with Julia again after previous collaborations. He also mentioned adjusting the story to fit them at this point in their careers and that Julia agreed quickly to the project.

Release
It is scheduled to premiere on June 22, 2026 on the Kapamilya Channel and A2Z.
