Key Features
Adblocking & SponsorBlock
- Adblocking: Native implementation prevents all banners, prerolls, and intermissions. Whitelisting is not supported.
- SponsorBlock: Integrated API to skip crowdsourced segments (sponsors, intros, outros, reminders).
- Note: Category skipping is configurable in settings; segment submission is not supported on TV interface.
Connectivity & Playback
- Casting: Requires manual linking via TV code.
- Path: SmartTube Settings > Link Devices; Mobile YouTube app > Settings > Watch on TV > Connect using TV-code.
- Picture-in-Picture (PiP): Enabled via
Settings > General > Background playback. Activates on Home or Back press (if configured). - Adjustable Speed: Persistent playback speed control located via the gauge icon in the player row.
Voice Search Integration
Global voice search requires a bridge app to intercept system intents. For the bridge to function, the official YouTube app must be uninstalled.- Amazon Fire TV: Install Amazon Bridge SmartTube app; no root required.
- Other Android TV Devices: Requires root access to uninstall the official YouTube app, followed by the installation of the ATV Bridge SmartTube app.
