MTV Pan-regional Music Channels shut down.

Since January 1, 2026, MTV already closed down it's remaining 24-hour music channels. Reason behind this is how people discover new music nowadays and MTV is testing themselves to become a streaming platform that competes both Spotify and YouTube.

The final programs of each channels are titled as "Goodbye From (Channel name)!" and here are the last played songs from each channels:
• MTV Live - Dancing On My Own by Robyn
• MTV Hits - Diamonds by Rihanna
• Club MTV - Don't Stop The Music by Rihanna
• MTV Music - Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles
• MTV 80s - Together in Electric Dreams by Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder
• MTV 90s - Goodbye by Spice Girls
• MTV 00s - Bye Bye Bye by N*Sync

Nick Music Global closed with Taylor Swift's End Game

It didn't specifically have a "Goodbye" block, but during the final day every few videos they would play a throwback that was popular during their days as Nick Hits in the Netherlands while the ticker about the upcoming closure was on screen.


The US MTV music video channels MTV Classic, MTV Live, mtvU, Tr3s, Nick Music, BET Jams, BET Soul, BET Gospel, and CMT Music are still on the air and are not shutting down. The main MTV channel in the USA also still has a weekly block of new music videos, and CMT and BET Her still have video blocks every morning.
