✅ When should you use DDU?

  • GPU driver crashes
  • Black screens after updates
  • Switching GPU brands (AMD ↔ NVIDIA)
  • Corrupted driver installs

❌ When NOT to use DDU

  • Everything works fine
  • Just updating drivers normally

⚠️ Before you start (important)

  • DDU is advanced → use it only if you have driver problems.
  • Make sure you know which GPU driver you’ll reinstall after.
  • This guide is Windows-only.

Step 1: Download what you need

  1. Download DDU from its official site (Guru3D).
  2. Download the latest GPU driver for your card (NVIDIA / AMD / Intel).
  3. Do NOT install the driver yet.

Step 2: Disconnect from the internet

  • Turn off Wi-Fi or unplug Ethernet
    (prevents Windows from auto-installing drivers).

Step 3: Boot into Safe Mode (recommended)

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Type msconfig → Enter
  3. Go to Boot tab
  4. Check Safe boot → select Minimal
  5. Click OK → Restart

(DDU works best in Safe Mode)

Step 4: Run DDU

  1. Extract the DDU ZIP file
  2. Open Display Driver Uninstaller.exe
  3. When prompted, select:
    • GPU
    • Your driver type: NVIDIA / AMD / Intel

Step 5: Clean the driver

Click “Clean and restart (Recommended)”

DDU will:

  • Remove drivers
  • Delete leftovers
  • Restart your PC automatically

Step 6: Install fresh GPU drivers

  1. Boot back into normal Windows
  2. Install the driver you downloaded earlier
  3. Restart once more

Step 7: Re-enable normal boot

If you used Safe Mode via msconfig:

  1. Open msconfig again
  2. Uncheck Safe boot
  3. Restart
