Step-by-Step Tutorial
1. Enable Developer Options on your Android device:
Go to Settings.
Find About Phone (or similar).
Tap the Build number seven times until a message confirms that Developer Options are enabled.
2. Enable Mock Locations in Developer Options:
Go back to Settings and find Developer Options.
Look for "Select Mock Location App" or "Allow Mock Locations" (the exact wording varies by device/Android version).
Select the Fake GPS app you installed.
3. Set Your Fake Location:
Open the Fake GPS app.
Choose a location in an FCC country (e.g., the United States, Canada).
Tap the "Start" button to activate the mock location.
4. Connect and Force FCC Mode:
Turn on the DJI Mavic Air 1 drone and the remote controller.
Connect your Android device to the remote controller.
Open the DJI GO 4 app.
The app should detect the "new" location and may ask you to switch WLAN settings or similar. Choose "YES" to allow the restart/switch.
5. Verify FCC Mode:
Once the remote or app restarts, go into the DJI GO 4 settings, specifically the Transmission or Wi-Fi settings.
In CE mode, the drone usually uses fewer Wi-Fi channels (e.g., 13 channels on 2.4GHz). In FCC mode, you should see more available channels (e.g., 11 channels on 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequencies re-enabled if they were disabled).
6. Stop Fake GPS:
You can now stop the Fake GPS app. The drone should retain the FCC settings until the next time you turn it off or until the DJI GO 4 app attempts to revert the settings.
7. Maintain FCC Mode (Crucial):
Every time you start the drone and open the DJI GO 4 app, it may prompt you again to switch the WLAN settings. ALWAYS choose "NO" or "CANCEL" when asked to switch back, as choosing "Yes" will revert the drone to the restricted CE mode.
