👨‍🏫 Tutorial A Free, Open, Developer-Friendly Routing & Geocoding API

Journeyman
For years, building apps with maps has meant one thing: Google Maps or nothing.
High pricing, strict quotas, and complicated billing have made it difficult for students, indie devs, and small startups to experiment, learn, and innovate.

So I decided to build something different.
Something open.
Something fast.
Something for everyone.

Introducing RoutePH — A Free Routing, Reverse Geocoding, and Mapping API

No lock-in.
No hidden billing.
No credit card requirements.
Just fast, reliable APIs you can actually build with.

💡 Why I Built This

Because I’ve seen too many great ideas from students, developers, and local startups die early simply because the cost of maps is too high.
Mapping shouldn’t be a luxury.
Routing shouldn’t be paywalled.
Innovation shouldn’t depend on credit cards.

So this project exists for:
  • 📚 Students who want to build school projects without limits
  • 🚀 Indie developers launching their first MVP
  • 🛵 Logistics and delivery apps needing fast routes
  • 🚗 Ride-hailing, transport, and mobility platforms
  • 🌐 Anyone who wants to build map-powered apps without fear of pricing

⚡ What You Can Do With RoutePH

  • Get accurate driving, biking, and walking routes
  • Search for places via forward and reverse geocoding
  • Build delivery apps, transport apps, dashboards, map tools, research projects, and more
  • Replace Google Maps services in many use cases — entirely free

🧑‍💻 For the Community

This isn't a corporate product.
It’s a community tool — built by a developer for other developers.
If it helps even one student finish their thesis project, or one developer ship their first app, then it’s already a success.

❤️ I’d Love Your Feedback

Right now, this is an early sneak peek.
I’m still improving the routing profiles, scaling the infrastructure, and polishing the developer docs.

If you’re interested, drop a comment.
Your input will help shape something that might become a real alternative for countless builders.

Let’s make mapping accessible again — together.
