Disclaimer:
This will only work if you're confident in what you do, meaning you have spent over 10,000 hours practicing and learning your craft. Because what I will be teaching you is "Value Based", it has worked for multiple close friends I taught this to. I just want to get this out there, and teach. The idea is a drift from "Demi Bernice's" idea of shifting your mind set.
To start:
Ok, what I will be sharing, is not as easy as it seem. You will need to shift your mindset drastically. This is how I increased my salary from Php18,000 - Php80,000 real quick. I realized that it would take me 10+ years to get where I want to be salary wise if I stick to corporate, so I shifted my eyes on online work. But who knows? What I'm about to teach you may also work sa corporate job hunting.
Straight to the point:
Step 1: Know your value. Set up your mind.
Confident kaba sa ginagawa mo? If, for rexample, sasabihin mo sakin na "Social Media Marketing" ang skill mo.. are you confident that you'll be able to drastically increase my page's engagement, and following? If so, proceed to step 2.. otherwise stay where you are and PRACTICE A LOT, LEARN A LOT until pwede mo nang masabi sa sarili mo "Magaling na ako."
Step 2: Take a mental note, or list down what your expected salary is.
Ex. Php 30,000, Php 50,000 ?
Step 3:
Take your expected salary and multiply it by 1.5, 2, or 3 - depende sa confidence level mo, this is why you have to hype yourself up, otherwise the employer or the interviewer will notice that you're not sure about yourself.
Ex. Php 30,000 * 2 = Php 60,000
Expected Salary = Php 60,000 (Use this figure in your job interviews)
(The point of this is even if they counter offer, you are most likely going to get something higher than your actual expected salary of 30k.)
Trick, I usually convert it to dollars, and then turn it into an "Hourly" rate.
Step 4: Convert [Expected Salary] to "Hourly" rate.
I'm not sure, this seem to be a psychological trick that has worked for me. So for example my expected salary is Php 60,000 , I convert it to USD and then turn it into $ / per hour.
Step 5: Job hunting
(While doing job hunting, always supplement it with tutorials on job hunting. Keywords: "Top Question and Answers during interviews" , "How to answer 'Tell me about yourself'," etc..)
1. Of course, optimise your profiles (linkedin, upwork, OLJ, freelancer, etc.)
2. Send as many resumes, applications as possible.
3. Out of 50-100 applications expect to get 5-15 job interviews.
4. When they ask you the question "What's your Expected Pay?" Sabihin mo agad ung "Hourly rate" mo, but also have a mental note of ung monthly rate mo para ma sagot mo agad whenever they ask the conversion.
Note: You will be rejected a lot, just treat it as a way to practice your speaking. Aim for conversational english.
Additional tips:
1. Hype yourself up.
2. Learn how to handle conversations during interviews.
3. Know your worth.
TLDR: If skilled kana, and may experience kana sa craft mo do this during your job hunting. Take a mental note of your expected salary, multiply it by 1.5, or 2, or 3. Convert it to hourly rate in USD, and that's what you tell the employer whenever they ask the question "What is your expected salary?" .
