PHThe Ombudsman is asking the Vice President to answer the alleged confidential funds misuse filed by the House of Representatives.“Bakit hindi niyo na lang kasuhan sa korte?” Wish granted! The House of Representatives filed the following cases: 1. Technical Malversation 2. Use of Falsified Documents/ Perjury 3. Bribery 4. Corruption of Public Officers 5. Plunder and Betrayal of Public Trust. Also, part of the complaint are the Special Disbursing Officers (Acosta and Fajarda), Security Officers Mempin and Lachica, and Usec Annalyn Sevilla. Please know that, as repeatedly explained the past few weeks, the impeachment does not count as double jeopardy. The constitution allows cases to be filed despite on-going trial, acquittal or impeachment conviction. The consequence of an impeachment case is just limited to removal of office and perpetual disqualification — given the gravity of what was presented in the committee hearing, the possibility of imprisonment is a welcomed development. I followed the committee hearings of the House of Representatives. I know for a fact that the case is strong. I guess the Vice President cannot refuse to explain who Mary Grace Piattos is. Note that the Duterte-leaning Ombudsman will retire in a few weeks. Yes, the one who made sure no one will get to see the SALN of PRRD. lols
