In the near future, Denmark is rendered uninhabitable by rising sea levels and the government decides to evacuate the country. Meanwhile, high school student Laura (Amaryllis August) is faced with a difficult choice: to go with her mother Fanny (Paprika Stein), a troubled science journalist, or her father Jacob (Nicolas Lee Kass), a successful architect living with his new wife Amalie (Helene Ringgard Neumann), or to stay with Elias (Albert Rudbeck Lindhart), the boy she has fallen in love with. Each decision takes Laura down a different path in a turbulent Europe.Laura’s family and those around her, including Amalie’s brother Nikolai (Esben Smed), and Nikolai’s husband Henrik (Magnus Milang), face the challenges of immigration, homelessness, and separation. Characters like Christel (Asta Kama August) and her son Lucas (Max Kaisen Hoyrup) also add depth to the story. The series explores emotions, hope, and despair, showing how crisis tests family bonds.
