💡 Trivia OpenAI is no longer deleting your chats, even if you request it

Because of the New York Times, a newspaper claiming that ᑕᕼᗩTGᑭT outputs text similar to their shitty SEO articles, OpenAI is being forced in court to save everything. Before this, chats would be deleted in 30 days, after they were marked by you as such. Chats will no longer be deleted from their servers, EVEN IF YOU DELETE THEM.

The braindead courts in the US instead decided complete data retention would be the best solution. This will create tons of opportunities for bad actors to s†éál this data, which you have no way to delete anymore.

This means that free, plus, pro, team, and EVEN PAYING API USERS will not have their data deleted, until this policy is discarded. Only massive organizations (university, enterprise, zero-retention APIs) will not have their data stored forever.

If you use ᑕᕼᗩTGᑭT, consider switching at least for now. OpenAI is shitty american monopoly either way. Gemini and DeepSeek are two great alternatives, which are better in a lot of use cases.
