🎓 Academic What Now?

I’ve completed my bachelor’s degree. I tried applying for jobs but for some reason can’t land on one. The world literally told me that if I have a college degree, everything will fall into pieces but that’s the biggest fattest lie I’ve ever heard especially in our economy here in Ph.

Did this kind of thought landed on you too after you finished your studies?

i'm sure you meant everything will "fall in place" rather than "fall in pieces".

if you consider the number of college graduates that the system churns out year-on-year, term-on-term, it's hardly surprising. there really isn't a guarantee of employment that comes with a college degree.

there are the very few for whom this worked out well, perhaps due to stellar academic records or striking it well with the licensure (board) exam, and considerable luck - timing is a tricky thing.

this obviously also depends on the degree you gained, and the demand in that field. unfortunately, some employers also look at the university you gained it from.

however, don't ever think of giving up. if you have the resources, keep improving on your craft (and cv), e.g. by taking short courses that are in your field of interest. network with your co-graduates who have had some success.

good luck on your search!
