Hello! It's great that you're considering repurposing the CCTV HDD for personal use. CCTV HDDs are indeed designed for continuous recording and storage of video footage, so they are generally reliable and durable. However, there are some factors to consider before using it as storage for personal files and backups.

1. Speed: As you mentioned, CCTV HDDs are optimized for continuous writing of data at a steady pace, which may result in slower speeds compared to regular desktop HDDs or SSDs. While this may not be a significant issue for storing large files and backups, it could impact the overall performance if you plan to access and transfer data frequently.

2. Compatibility: Make sure that the CCTV HDD is compatible with your desktop system. Check the interface (e.g., SATA) and ensure that your desktop has the necessary connections to use the CCTV HDD.

3. Health and Usage: Consider the age and usage history of the CCTV HDD. If it has been in operation for a long time recording video footage, it may have experienced more wear compared to a typical desktop HDD. You can use tools like CrystalDiskInfo to check the health of the HDD and assess any potential risks.

4. Backup Strategy: Since personal files and backups are important, always have a backup strategy in place. Consider using the CCTV HDD as additional storage rather than the sole repository for critical data. Regularly back up your files to a different storage device or cloud service to ensure data redundancy and protection.

In conclusion, while you can repurpose the CCTV HDD for personal use, be mindful of the potential limitations in terms of speed and compatibility. As long as you understand these considerations and have a backup plan in place, using the CCTV HDD for storing big files and personal backups can be a cost-effective solution.

kung pang storage mo lng naman. why does it even matter kung mabagal? unless nlng kung lalagyan mo ng mga heavy AAA games.
speed is fine kung di ka lang maselan. nka CCTV HDD din ako ginagamit ko pa for heavy video editing. like 4K videos. although nag stututter minsan it barely matters to me. ksi di ko pde elagay mga video file ko sa SSD. mabilis maubos lifespan ng SSD ko pag dun ko ilalagay mga 4K videos na 30-40GB each hehehe.
