The decision revives a legal battle that has spanned nearly a decade and centers on allegations linking De Lima to drug operations in the New Bilibid Prison during her tenure as Justice secretary. In its ruling, the appellate court found that the Regional Trial Court of Muntinlupa City failed to provide sufficient legal and factual justification for clearing De Lima and Dayan last year. The lower court had based its acquittal largely on the recantation of a key witness, former corrections official Rafael Ragos, who withdrew his testimony claiming he delivered drug money to De Lima.

hahaha if binasa mo yung source ko nabasa mo sana yung sagot ni CA when De Lima insisted that her acquittal remains valid and re-trial of case will constitute a double jeopardy, sinagot lang naman siya ng CA that the acquittal was issued with grave abuse of discretion, the decision was deemed invalid from the start, allowing the case to be retried
