MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte said she would support a legislative measure banning political dynasties in the Philippines, despite hailing from a family of politicians.

“Ako yung may pinakamalaki at solid ang kredibilidad to speak about political dynasty because I come from a political dynasty, so wala nang mas matindi pang expert sa political dynasty,” Duterte told reporters after casting her vote in the 2025 midterm elections.

Ako yung pinakamagaling sa political dynasty,” she said.

Throughout the campaign season, the Vice President has repeatedly urged people to scrutinize candidates based on their track record and abilities instead of their family names.

i would say that is a reflective thinking, it shows na napipilitan lang silang sumabay sa kalabang dynasties who try to erase their legacy, the willingness comes from a desire to end dynasties altogether including their own, kasi if banned naman talaga ang same apelyedo no need naman din makipag sabayan if walang sasabayan

Medyo malabo ‘yan. Davao nga lang kontrolado ng pamilya niya, and she’s got no real power sa Congress.

Lol, may sinabi ba akong ban?

All elected officials are mandated by law to do their responsibilities and uphold the interest of the public over their personal interest.

More detailed explanation:
All elected officials are mandated by law to act with responsibility, integrity, competence, and loyalty. They are expected to uphold public interest over personal interest, lead modest lives, and be accountable to the people. Essentially, they must serve the public with the highest ethical standards.
