There are 2 ways you can learn based on my experience and my friends.
1. Learn the fundamentals or root first. Start with the OSI Model (Open Systems Interconnection Model), it has everything you need.
2. Start with making projects or having goals related to Network, then achieve that goal from self-learning. Keep researching, don't give up and you will adapt along the journey. Repeat.

Goal, Focus, Engagement and Experience matters more than just absorbing knowledge. Knowledge comes along the way.
