The series begins in 1683, after the Ottoman defeat at the Battle of Vienna. Hassan Balaban (John Yaman), a wounded soldier of the Janissary army, is separated from the battlefield during his retreat and accidentally arrives in the village of Moena in northern Italy. Seriously injured, he is saved by the locals who nickname him “El Turco”. Hassan, with a fighting spirit and a heart for justice, gradually establishes contact with the people of Moena and becomes aware of the heavy taxation that the lord of the region, Prince Francesco (David Nickel), has imposed on the people.With the help of Gloria (Greta Ferro), a brave village girl, and other villagers such as Gunther (Magnus Samuelsson) and Elda (Maddalena Aragao), he organizes a popular uprising against the oppressors. Along the way, Hassan must not only fight against external enemies like Marco Benedetti (Will Kemp), but also confront his own past and emotional wounds.
