❓ Help Anong best ap and mesh device for large area or non home purpose

ok naman most suggestions ni bot. just be wary of anything Cisco (even Cisco Meraki) for the ongoing licensing requirements.

dagdag ko lang ang Grandstream. i haven't used one personally, but know people who do that are very happy with it - certainly from a price/performance point. You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now.

i've been on Ruckus Unleashed for years now. Have used R700 -> R600 -> R710, and now perfectly happy with R750. Beamflex+ does work. i mean i get 598 Mbps while sitting in the toilet, with the door closed, of course! and pag nakakita ka nang second-hand R610, R710 within your price range, grab it, you won't regret it. me enterprise users na nag-upgrade from AC to AX. Pag naka-tyempo ng R650/R750, you're set for some years down the line.

i've also been playing with a bunch of Arubas running Instant f/w - specifically IAP-207 and IAP-325 units. they're great! in fact, the web ui is more refreshing than Ruckus Unleashed. the RF side is not quite as good as Ruckus (signal level), but still able to give me 586 Mbps in the living room, where the Ruckus R750 give me 851 Mbps.

TP-Link does have good products, just haven't seen them deployed in a serious enterprise or commercial setting here.

one awesome thing about using enterprise/commercial-grade WAPs is that you pretty much don't run into the maximum device limit (my R750 supports up to 1024 clients). pero s'yempre, dapat capable rin 'yung router mo.

don't bother with Ubiquiti/Unifi. walang kwenta ito. in fact, i still have an AC-Pro in a drawer at home. used it for 2 weeks, and decommissioned it. kundi lang kailangan ko pang i-ship, sa 'yo na.

3x expensive :ROFLMAO: pero same lang sila ng function
ah baka mas mataas ang chip ginamit how about sa ruijie na ginamit ng dict free wifi?

bakit po di ka recommend ng ubiquiti/unifi po? anong meron po?

well, looks cool if you have Ubiquiti everything, but so does Grandstream, for much cheaper.

i have only done a side-by-side between a Unifi AC-Pro and a Ruckus R600 and R710 unleashed (some years ago now). different class, i know, but you can get them on ebay for reasonable prices. 2 things were majorly annoying:
  • rf performance is nowhere near Ruckus'
  • don't like having to have a separate "controller" for fancy monitoring, although you can use it without one, after configuring the device/s
they've also, quite a few times released, buggy updates - 2020 was a terrible year to be on Ubiquiti gear. and i say that kung makaka-libre ka ng Ubiquiti gear, by all means try to use it or play with it. if spending your own money, i'd suggest considering other makes first.

mas mura ang ruckus kaysa sa ubiquiti?

unfortunately not. brand new ruckus costs 3x (or more!) that of a comparable unifi AP. but there's no comparison in actual performance. add to this the possible need for a separate cloud controller and the choice is made.

however, you can troll the likes of ebay for used access points from those who have upgraded. for example, an R610 brand new is in the NZ$1200+ range. there's a bunch of them used available locally for NZ$70 (marami na ang nag-upgrade to 802.11ax).

to be honest, di naman kailangan ang AX, especially kung less than 1000 Mbps ang internet connection at wala namang local server, e.g. NAS, na ina-access ng wifi devices.

ngayon kung enterprise, kailangan i-consider ang warranty, support, etc. for a Ruckus deployment, you probably want SmartZone (with a controller) rather than an Unleashed deployment. Note that I have seen enterprise deployment of Aruba Instant, so pwede rin walang controller.

sa opisina, syempre brand new, di ba?

btw, what APs are you upgrading from (what are you using currently)? size of the office and number of clients, plus the typical use case might also help give us a better idea of what would serve your needs.

i'll fire up Unify pag sinipag ako on a weekend, but here's what the Ruckus Unleashed (R750) GUI looks like:

and the rather refreshing Aruba Instant (IAP-325) in factory-defaults apart from the admin password:

you sound very professional IT guy sir nitro7 .
yun nga lang based sa comments mo sir di pala ganun ka ganda si ubiquity
my company will replace aruba and replace with ubiquity.

so good luck to our clients na lang haha

master nitro7 pwede makisali? How about Ruijie AP's?
di naman master. there's always something new to learn.

sorry, wala akong first-hand experience sa Ruijie. they do seem to be a full-pledged networking products company. i'll have a chat with one of our sales engineers to find out if we've ever had to compete with Ruijie for a customer.

unfortunately, that has been my personal experience.
to be fair, i compared it with others that are clearly more expensive, so i guess those have had to be better devices.
and another thing, depende yan sa use-case ng clients n'yo. di naman lahat, heavy user. if they really are, they probably should make provision for wired connections.

with wireless access points, some of the things to consider are the number of clients each AP can serve, how much bandwidth a typical client requires, backhaul capacity. radio smarts help a lot in getting the best links to the client devices. these things come into the planning - ilang access point, which also depends on the type of location - educational, enterprise (office), commercial (malls), events (stadiums, parks, etc.)

a bit of my background... i work in product development (software engineering) for a company making telecom equipment - radio access, wireless (microwave/mmwave) backhaul for TDM/packet data, including commercial grade routers. some of our products are used by the big telcos in the philippines. among the things i did (still do when needed) is measure industry standard throughput, latency, and other tests on typical network topologies. kasama na rin ang traffic outages for protected networks - rf protection, dynamic routing, etc.

'yung soho networking, personal interest ko na lang. also because i have access to tools at work, i do things like measure the maximum throughput of modem/routers, powerline ethernet adaptors, etc. at syempre, because we have very good internet service here, i also want to maximise the performance i get - kaya napunta ako sa commercial-grade routers and commercial/enterprise-grade access points.

to satisfy my curiosity, i try to obtain the devices i find interesting - ebay, fbm and our local ebay-equivalent. madalas naman maka-tsamba. costs a bit of money, pero disiplina lang - i have a price limit, beyond which ayawan na. grandstream (GWN7002/7003 + GWN7664/7665) ang tinityempuhan ko ngayon because the pricepoint of brand new devices is hard to ignore. also because one of the local RSP (ISP) resellers here have dropped ubiquiti for residential customers and are deploying grandstream, instead. di ko naman kailangan mag-upgrade from what i have now, so hintay-hintay lang.
