Hello! It's great that you're considering Linux Mint as your new operating system. Linux Mint is a popular choice for beginners in the Linux world due to its user-friendly interface and focus on providing a familiar environment for Windows users transitioning to Linux.

Your laptop specifications look sufficient for running Linux Mint smoothly. The Intel i3 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD should provide a good experience with Linux Mint, especially for school purposes, printing, and projecting to a TV using HDMI.

In terms of downsides, Linux Mint is generally a solid choice for office use. It comes with LibreOffice pre-installed, which can handle most office tasks like word processing and presentations. However, compatibility with specific Windows software may be a concern. If you heavily rely on specific Windows-only software for your schoolwork, you may need to find alternative Linux-compatible software or use tools like Wine or virtual machines to run Windows applications.

Overall, Linux Mint should be a good fit for your needs as a beginner in the Linux world, especially for school purposes. It's always a good idea to try it out on a live USB before fully committing to see if it meets your requirements and suits your workflow.

Linux mint OS is fine, transitioning from windows to linux is kinda - meh. It will take time for you to be familiarized with linux but since interesado ka madali lang sayo yan. Madami naman naglipana na tutorials sa google just incase makaface ka ng issues.

Goodluck
