PHA GRADE 10 student from Urot National High School in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City stabbed his Grade 8 girlfriend after she broke up with him.
The incident occurred at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025, inside the school’s comfort room.
According to an investigation by the Mabolo police station, the victim revealed that they met on the second floor of the school and that the suspect dragged her downstairs and into the restroom.
The suspect confronted the victim about why she broke up with him and pleaded for them not to separate, but the victim refused, stating that she had already decided not to continue the relationship.
This made the suspect angry. He immediately grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck.
After the incident, the victim sought help from her teacher, who quickly took her to the Cebu City Medical Center, while the teacher also reported the incident to the Mabolo police station.
Police Major Romeo Caacoy Jr., the head of Mabolo police station, stated that the suspect immediately fled but was later apprehended in a follow-up operation with the help of his parents.
Caacoy further mentioned that the couple had been in a relationship for four months, and because the suspect was deeply in love, he could not accept the breakup.
"Ingon sa suspect nga nahigugma ragyud kuno siya. Upat sila ka buwan nga nagkauyab unya nasuko siya nga gibuwagan siya ba," said Caacoy.
(The suspect claimed that he was really in love, and they had been together for four months, but he got angry when she broke up with him.)
The victim also admitted that she had broken up with her boyfriend via chat, but she did not reveal the reason behind her decision.
Despite the suspect’s apology, which was made while he was in police custody, along with his parents, the victim’s family decided to file a case of Frustrated Homicide against him. (AYB)
