AFTER 'MARY GRACE PIATTOS' COMES 'KOKOY VILLAMIN': HOUSE PANEL FLAGS MORE FRAUDULENT RECEIPTS UNDER SARA-LED OVP, DEPED
The House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability has flagged another suspicious name, "Kokoy Villamin," in the ongoing probe into ₱612.5 million worth of confidential funds managed by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) under Vice President Sara Duterte. The name surfaced in multiple acknowledgment receipts (ARs) submitted for financial liquidation, displaying varying handwriting and signatures—suggesting potential falsification.
Manila 3rd District Rep. Joel Chua, who chairs the committee, vowed to intensify efforts to uncover the truth behind these records. Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong E×ρréššed disbelief at the repeated use of the same name across ARs from both the OVP and DepEd, emphasizing the unlikelihood of such a coincidence.
Adiong pointed to a receipt from the OVP and another from DepEd bearing the same name but different signatures, raising red flags about the authenticity of these documents.
"Is it just a coincidence that the same two offices, headed by the same person, submitted the same ARs and encountered two persons with the same name?" Adiong questioned, highlighting inconsistencies confirmed by COA auditor Gloria Camora.
The panel continues to scrutinize nearly 4,500 ARs submitted as proof of fund disbursement, demanding accountability for these irregularities.
