Good news! You can now bypass netflix household restriction by blocking netflix domains in your router.
Please take note that this is only applicable to all devices connected to the same wi-fi router sharing the same netflix account from a different household.
It works on all devices, especially on smart TVs.
You just have to tweak some settings in your wi-fi router by blocking the following domains:
1. android.prod.cloud.netflix.com
2. web.prod.cloud.netflix.com
I can only provide tutorial for my router which is Huawei. And here it is.
For Huawei Router:
1. Open the network configuration page thru your internet browser (e.g. 192.168.100.1, etc.) and log in using your account credentials.
2. Click "Advanced".
3. Click "Security".
4. Click "Parental Control".
5. Click "Template".
6. Click "New".
7. Type any template name and click next.
8. You will go to the next page to specify the allowed network surfing period. You can leave it as it is and click next.
9. Check "Enable website filter".
10. Make sure the filter mode is set to "Blacklist".
11. Click "New" and enter "android.prod.cloud.netflix.com" in the URL address, then apply.
13. Click "New" and enter "web.prod.cloud.netflix.com" in the URL address, then apply.
14. Check all the URL addresses and click "Finish".
15. Go back to "Overview" and select "Apply on all devices".
16. Select the binding template you created earlier, then apply.
17. That's it.
I cannot answer your queries if you are using a different brand of router. You can also block the aforementioned domains in your mobile phones but I do not know how. Google na lang po kayo.
The most important thing for me is that this works on smart TVs without downgrading to an older version of the netflix app.
