JUST IN: Rep. Dan Fernandez announces that he and Rep. Bienvenido Abante Jr. will temporarily vacate their chairmanship following the accusations of former Mandaluyong City Police chief Col. Hector Grijaldo that they pressured him to confirm the drug war reward system before the House quad comm.
“We will be trying to relief temporarily our chairmanship in order to discuss this in a transparent and impartial and honest investigation on this matter. Because this pertains to the integrity of this quad comm and we don’t want that this quad comm be deluged with so many bad comments about what Chairman Abante and this representation,” he said on Thursday.
During the Senate’s probe into the war on drugs, Grijaldo said that Fernandez and Abante spoke to him and retired colonel Royina Garma’s lawyers on October 22, 2024 — the same day that the panel will take place.
