Anong systema ba dapat ang baguhin?
Narito ang ilang mga kadahilanan sa pag-bagal o pag-sulong ng pag-unlad ng Bansang Pilipinas:
Due to the constant change in leadership, the Philippines has not developed as much as it could have. Many planned projects remain unfinished because corruption takes precedence over project completion. As a term nears its end, the focus shifts to embezzling rather than finishing what should have been completed. The next leader may not address these unfinished projects as they will prioritize new endeavors to secure additional funding. In short, the cycle in the Philippines revolves around the same issues, regardless of who is in power.
This cycle can only be broken with long-term leadership, akin to a king or a strong leader. The more changes in leadership, the more opportunities for corruption in the country's coffers. However, with a long-term leader in place, even if they engage in corruption, they are likely to complete and develop the country over time. Having a leader in power for an extended period will enable them to understand the country's needs and ensure continuous progress since they do not have to worry about their term ending, focusing solely on the advancement of the Philippines.
Let us remember as Filipinos around the world that no one, not even leaders, is perfect; we all have our flaws. Have you not noticed that since Ferdinand Marcos left office, the successive Philippine presidents have led at a slower pace, which has left the Philippines lagging behind in development?

Put one wrong leader in that long-term leadership and you'll end up like North Korea or Somalia. Not a progress in sight.
It takes two to tango. A leader wouldn't be as incentivized to s†éál if his followers aren't as eager to beg for the wrong things. Any system is ideal as long as you have the right people for the job and the right mindset of his/her followers. Doesn't matter whether it's long or short term. We are in this vicious cycle because one filthy act empowers the other. It would be ideal to change our electoral system but that isn't possible as those in power have it in a strangle-hold. Even many people's dreams of Federalism are being used as a political ploy to divert attention from pressing National issues.
The Philippines is in such a strange place because of the fact that it has a chance to actually develop and become a major player in Asia. We have the resources for that. We are always being forecasted to be the 'rising' economy of SEA - a praise that I have heard since Ramos' frequent international trips. Almost 30 years later and we are still trying to 'take off', bogged down by tumultuous political drama that's too funny because it's bad but then you realize they're talking about billions of misused funds and eliminating political allies through trial by media/public opinion.

All I can say is, this is not a developed country where we can afford to entertain the idea of EJKs without compromising the peace and security of the entire populace.
