The Philippine National Police (PNP) has announced that Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ religious group, will remain detained at Camp Crame, despite a court order instructing his transfer to another facility.
According to PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo, the decision to keep Quiboloy at the national headquarters was based on security concerns. "The safety of the accused is our priority, and logistical factors also play a significant role in this decision," Fajardo stated.
The court's order for Quiboloy's transfer reportedly stemmed from concerns over impartiality and security, but the PNP has cited the high-profile nature of the case and potential risks as reasons for maintaining his detention at Camp Crame.
Quiboloy, who faces multiple charges including human trafficking, has become a central figure in a widely publicized legal battle, which has drawn significant public attention both locally and abroad.
Quiboloy's legal team has E×ρréššed reservations over his continued stay in Camp Crame, raising concerns about the police’s compliance with the court's directive. However, the PNP has assured that their decision was made with full consideration of both legal and security matters, and that they are in communication with relevant authorities.
As the situation develops, it remains to be seen whether further legal actions will be taken to enforce the transfer or if the PNP will stand firm in its decision to keep Quiboloy in its custody at Camp Crame.
