Laptop not recognizing list of drives when installing from a bootable USB device?

On systems with the 11th generation Core I processors (Tiger Lake platform), during a manual installation of Windows 10/11, you may find that a SATA hard disk is not detected.

Steps:

  1. Download the You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now.
  2. Extract the ZIP file, and copy the extracted files on a USB drive. Connect this USB drive to the system where you are installing Windows 10. On the page where you select the drive to use, click Load Driver.
  3. Click Browse, and navigate to the folder on the USB drive with the previous extracted files.
  4. When you selected this folder, click OK.
  5. Select Intel RST VMD Controller 9A08 (TGL), and click Next.
  6. The selected driver will be loaded, and the SATA drive will become available for selection on screen.
