THOSE WHO ARE BLAMING VP SARA DUTERTE FOR THE PISA RESULTS ARE ****
Yes, you heard it right. Those claiming that VP Sara is responsible for the low PISA results are misinformed.
First, it’s important to understand that the OECD conducts the PISA every three years since 2000. From 2000 to 2017, the Philippines did not participate. It was only during President Rodrigo Duterte's administration that the Philippines first joined the test in 2018. The second participation occurred on March 11, 2022, again under PRRD’s administration.
VP Sara Duterte assumed the role of Secretary of DepEd on June 19, 2022. This means that the students who took the PISA test were still under the leadership of then-Secretary Leonor Briones and were products of the K to 12 curriculum.
In 2018, the Philippines scored among the lowest in reading comprehension, mathematics, and science literacy. The 2022 results showed a slight improvement, but the country still ranked near the bottom globally.
The recent poor PISA results are being actively addressed by the Department of Education under VP Sara. This is a core focus of the MATATAG Curriculum.
DepEd has implemented national reading, math, and science programs, initiated Catch-up Fridays for learners and teachers, expanded teacher career progression, pushed for transparent educational programs and practices, and started digitalization in schools.
When will we see the results of these efforts? In the next four years.
So why are you putting the blame to VP Sara?
This is because you are MISINFORMED.
Shame!
