The law is good but do we really think these institutions will follow it to the letter?
Maybe they will but I’m sure they will find a way to screw us up somewhere.
The best example is GCash. I just noticed they have a ₱2 convenience fee when I buy load from the app to my prepaid Globe number.
GCash and Globe are both owned by the Ayalas so why in the ****ing world should we be charged a convenience fee when it is their duty to provide their customers utmost convenience by seamlessly integrating all their services that includes buying load, bills payment et cetera across all the companies they own — at no possible cost.
That’s called customer convenience. It’s called looking after your customer needs and providing them with solutions that make it easy and less expensive for them to do business with your companies.
For all other Telco loads, fine. But GCash to Globe? Blasphemous.
But nah. They want to make a real nice profit while we do their bidding. You may not think ₱2 is such a pain but GCash possibly makes hundreds of millions of pesos a month and billions a year just by charging their customers a ‘convenience fee.’
In 2023, Globe had 54.5 million prepaid customers according to Statista. If these customers top up or by load once a month and you multiply it by GCash’s ₱2 convenience fee you’ll get ₱109 million.
That’s ₱109 million a month just because we bought Globe prepaid load from it’s sister company GCash! Haha.
That’s more than ₱1.3 billion a year just because we chose to buy load from Globe’s sister company GCash. Haha.
₱1.3 billion. Imagine that. Of course not all the 54.5 million Globe prepaid subscribers will buy load from GCash but I wanted to make a point. Hahaha.
******* ‘tong mga Tisoy oligarks they really can’t get enough. I mean how greedy can one human being be?
But get this. If another Globe prepaid subscriber is like me who tops up every week from GCash then that ₱109 million GCash earns every month “for our convenience” grows exponentially.
So now you know how the rich become even more richer. Yeah, you guessed it alright: BY SCREWING THE POOR FROM BEHIND.
Adios, patria adorada.
