The Gin Kings are moving on to the championship round after a convincing victory over San Miguel Tuesday to win their PBA Governors' Cup semifinal series at the Big Dome.

Ginebra survived a 24-0 run by the now dethroned champions to make their triumphant return to the finals for the first time in three years after winning this hard-fought series, 3-2.

Led by rookie Scottie Thompson, the Gin Kings went off and established a commanding 37-12 lead early in the second quarter after a numbing 23-0 blitz.

That's when the Beermen made their move and dropped a near-fatal 24-0 bomb to cut the deficit to one, 36-37, and make it a new game entering the second half.

However, Justin Brownlee took over for Ginebra and the no. 3 Gin Kings restored order by the start of the fourth period, leading by 28, 81-53.

The pounding continued in the last 12 minutes as the Gin Kings roared to their first finals appearance since the 2013 Commissioner's Cup. Ginebra now has a chance to win its first title since the the 2008 Fiesta Conference.
