KUWAIT 23 August 2023 – The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait repatriated a total of 108 distressed Filipinos, including two minors in three flights on 14 and 15 August 2023.

The distressed Filipinos were on board Saudia Airlines and Gulf Air flights arriving on 15 and 16 August 2023 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The cost of the one-way tickets of the repatriated individuals were shouldered by the DFA Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (OUMWA)’s Assistance-To-Nationals (ATN) Fund.

Majority of the repatriated Filipinos were undocumented workers staying at the Embassy shelter. The repatriation was spearheaded by Philippine Ambassador Jose A. Cabrera III and supervised by Vice Consul Josel N. Mostajo, head of the Embassy’s ATN Section, in close coordination with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Kuwait.

Since January this year, the DFA, through the Embassy and OUMWA, has repatriated a total of 763 Filipinos.

A total of 5,940 individuals have been repatriated from the State of Kuwait since January 2023, with costs of the airfare being shouldered by the Philippine government through the DFA, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Workers Administration (OWWA), employers, the workers’ families, and recruitment agencies.
