The bible is based on older myths.
And that is a very interesting rabbithole do go down.

Just gonna give three examples:

Adam and Eve: The story of the first man is based on a myth that is about 800 years older than the bible!
It has it’s origins in the story of El & Asherah.

Jesus: Let us take a quick look at the life of ancient Egyptian god “Horus”.
  • Was born at winter solstice
  • A star announced his birth
  • 3 kings came to great the newborn
  • Horus was a preacher
  • Horus had 12 disciples
  • Horus was betrayed
  • Horus was dead 3 day before he was resurrected
Sounds familiar, hm?

Jehova/ Jahwe: So god himself must be original, doesn’t he?
Well…JHW was a minor god known to the Kenites and Midianites.
So the modern day god was part of a pantheon.
He just got “promoted” to the major god at some point.

And we can go on about certain stories that are much older than the bible.
It is pretty interesting, as mentioned.
And one can learn quite a bit when reading it.

How about you?
