Researchers discovered 1,000-year-old "jars of the dead" in Laos

In May 2019, the Australian National University announced that "You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now." had been "unearthed" in Laos. While researchers and scientists aren't quite sure what the curious containers were originally meant for, they "believe they were related to [the] disposal of the dead." The 137 jars were discovered in a remote forest area in addition to others that had been found in the past. "These new sites have really only been visited by the occasional tiger hunter," said Nicholas Skopal, the PhD student who made the discovery. "Now we've rediscovered them, we're hoping to build a clear picture about this culture and how it disposed of its dead."
