At around 2007, books started using BCE(before common era) and CE (common era). This is instead of BC(before Christ) and AD(Anno domini). This is to "de-christianize" the language used to denote year despite using the same Gregorian calendar system. Here is what Neil deGrasse Tyson have to say about it:
