that's one effect of electrolyte imbalance, electrlytes are metallic ions such as Na^+ (sodium) K^+ (potassium) Ca^2+ (calcium) Mg^2+ (magnesium) etc., they play very important role in nerve function since nerves operate by electrical voltages and they promote smooth movement of electrons (as in electricity), an excess or deficit of at least one of those ions can cause erratic function of nerves leading to muscle cramps and tingling sensations
