Atheists don’t have a beef with god because atheists don’t believe that god exists.
But to flip it around, if theists believe in god, why do they try to play god and judge people who don’t subscribe to the theist belief system?
A favorite theme of church sermons and conservative social politics is to harp on how people are sinning and are going to burn in hell, which is why the conservative right’s argument for why they should get to set policy and dictate how people should and shouldn’t live.
If theists truly believe in a god, and that that god is in control, then they should stop presuming that they know the intentions and motivations of a being that is far beyond human intellect.
This example of hypocrisy and hubris is just another example of the true purpose of religion, which is to control.
