PHLUCENA CITY — Two picnickers drowned in separate incidents on Thursday in Batangas province.
The Batangas police said in a report that an unnamed young girl, together with her friends, went for a swim around 5 p.m. in a beach resort in Barangay Bagong Silang in Calatagan town.
The victim suddenly disappeared and floated unconscious near the breakwater.
Rescuers gave her emergency first aid and rushed her to the nearest hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival.
In Lemery town, an unnamed teenage boy and his cousin went for a swim around 5:30 p.m. at a resort’s swimming pool in Barangay Nonong Casto.
The victim suddenly sank into the water that lasted for almost a minute. His cousin immediately lifted the unconscious victim out of the water.
Investigators said the boy died while being taken to the nearest hospital. INQ
