Deuteronomy 6:12 (KJV) Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

It’s a joy to be free from bondage, from sin, and from old habits. And it’s good that we do not forget our rescue. Not so that we can wallow in the guilt of our past, but so that we can never forget that it was God who rescued us. For when we lose sight of our Rescuer and claim the credit ourselves, our pride turns us right back to that old place of bondage.

Lord God, thank You for freeing me from my bondage to sin. Lord, remind me daily that it was You who rescued me. Guard my heart against pride, so that I may not wander aimlessly on my own, forgetting all that You’ve done for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
