The usual procedure that phrasal nouns go through is first as two words, then after a few years, hyphenated, and finally, one word.

Examples: “to day,” “to-day,” and finally “today”; “flower pot,” “flower-pot,” and finally “flowerpot.”

As to electronic mail, it went from “electronic mail” to “e-mail” and is now “email.” So the answer to the question is: “email” is correct.
