Ideally speaking, debates are for everybody involved to consider questions you don’t ask because of your biases. You go into debates with an expectations that your reasoning might be wrong.
Atheist in general are in a position saying "prove it, then i will believe you" which is ethical, and frequently the case.

So ang only ethical stance ng theist is "prove me wrong, and i will stop believing". Otherwise, they are just trying to impose their belief on others. In a sense, it is just affirmation.
