example:

8. Jose is able to sell a hand-carved statue for ₱27,500 which was a 35% profit over his cost. How much did the statue originally cost him? A. ₱20,000 B. ₱30,000 C. ₱40,000 D. ₱50,000 E. ₱ 60,000 Answer: A ₱27,500 = Cost + 0.35(Cost) = 1.35(Cost), Cost = ₱27,500/1.35 = ₱20,000 should be (₱20,370.37)

9. The city council has decided to add a 0.10% tax (DAPAT eto ay 10% tax hindi 0.10%) on motel and hotel rooms. If a traveler spends the night in a motel room that costs ₱2,500 before taxes, how much will the city receive in taxes from him? A. ₱100 B. ₱150 C. ₱200 D. ₱250 E. ₱300 Answer: D

Explanation: The amount of taxes is equal to 2,500*0.10=250. The city will receive ₱250 pesos.

Dahil kung 0.10% lang ang kukunin sa 2,500 eh d dapat ang sagot ay 25pesos lamang. Kaya para maging 250 pesos ang sagot dapat ang Tanong ay "10%"
