🔒 Closed More than 1 month expired na unopened tikoy, safe pa ba ito kainin? (Serious question)

Di ko na matandaan specifically kung kailan ko nabili itong tikoy from Polland, pero upon checking earlier, ang expiry niya ay 6/22/2022. So, more than a month nang expired pla itong natambak na tikoy dito.

Note: Di ko agad-agad niluto yung tikoy dahil sa pagkakaalam ko may 3-month shelf life ito. Ang pagkakamali ko lang, di ko nacheck agad yung expiration date, so off-based yung tantya ko ng expiration niya.

Safe pa bang iluto at kainin ito since hindi naman siya nabuksan all this time?

But, if you forget to refrigerate and there are mold sprouting out. Don't worry. They say the Chinese Tikoy taste better when it is already infected with molds. Just wipe of the molds with oil and it is good to go. =)

Does Tikoy expire?
Tikoy, eaten as it is (when fresh), is not as sticky as when it is fried. It is less greasy, too. However, to prolong the shelf life, Tikoy should be refrigerated and it will keep for a long time.

Yup. But steaming kills most of the microorganism so they can't produce toxins. And I'm sure they have other food preparation techniques to eliminate other heat resistant food pathogen.. if not, then di na aabot ng 3 months yang tikoy nila. Few days or weeks lang at marami na sana na food poison.

ayan naman pala bakit mo sinabing mangangamoy spoilage if undetected naman pala sa manufacturer level at saka bakit mo din sinabing di makapaglagay si manufacturer ng expiry if contaminated when obviously kahit 1 surviving cell ay naglagay pa din siya ng expiry

those good manufacturing practices cannot zero out microorganisms, kaya pa rin merong expiry dates at hindi iyon decoration sa packaging, bitawan mo na ang myth about killing all microbes kasi di iyon totoo without totally burning the food
