PHMultiple posters recently leaked from several theatres in Japan related to the upcoming sports movie Slam Dunk. The announcement regarding the movie was made on January 7th, 2021, by Takahiko Inoue on his official Twitter handle. Although it was known long ago that the movie would release in 2022, there was no official word on its exact release schedule. But the leaked posters share the release date for the Slam Dunk movie.
For those who are unaware of Slam Dunk, it’s one of the best sports and comedy manga series. A total of 31 volumes of Slam Dunk manga ran from October 1990 to June 1996, and with over 170 million copies in circulation, it tops the list of the best-selling manga of all time. A television series of 101 episodes and multiple movies for Slam Dunk makes it quite popular among sports anime fans.
The multiple leaked posters share the main characters of the movie, Sakuragi Hanamichi, Rukawa Kaede, Akagi Takenori, Miyagi Ryota, and Hisashi Mitsui. The posters confirm that The First Slam Dunk movie will release on December 3rd, 2022. Takehiko Inoue is the writer and director of the movie, while Toei animation has stepped up for its animation.
Among the other main staff members is Yasuyuki Ebara, who is working as a character designer and animation director. He is also famous for his work in Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. The team of technical directors includes Katsuhiko Kitada (also known for Attack on Titan episodes), Naoki Miyahara (known for Digimon Adventures), Toshio Ohashi, and Yu Kamatani. Daiki Nakazaka will be working alongside Yuta Ogura to produce the CG, while Yota Tsuruoka and Koji Kasamatsu will handle the sound department.
